I had to deploy OSD from SCCM to the new Dell Optiplex 7040 desktop. The desktop has the new Non-Volatile Memory Express (NVMe) drives which Win 7 does not support unless two new hot-fixes are installed. It has the new Intel network driver as well which has version 220.127.116.11 (I219-LM). Below are the steps which i performed to add new hot-fixes to the image. I did online servicing of the image by using DISM.
1.Create the folders – C:\Mount\Win7 , C:\Mount\NVMEw7fix , C:\Mount\NVMEw7fix2
2. Download hotfix 2990941 for NVMe and extract to C:\Mount\NVMEw7fix
3. Download hotfix for stop error after you install hotfix 2990941 and extract to C:\Mount\NVMEw7fix2
4. Run these commands to inject the hot-fixes:
DISM /mount-wim /wimfile:c:\Mount\Win7\”nameofthewim.wim” /index:1 /mountdir:c:\share\temp
DISM /image:c:\Mount\Win7 /add-package /packagepath:c:\Mount\NVMEw7fix
DISM /image:c:\Mount\Win7 /add-package /packagepath:c:\Mount\NVMEw7fix2
DISM /unmount-wim /mountdir:c:\Mount\Win7 /commit
5. Upload the image to SCCM and deploy.
